Core Beliefs

Below you will find what we've come to believe as a body trying to discern the meaning of God's word and will for our church community.

  • GOD: FATHER – JESUS – HOLY SPIRIT

There is one God, existing in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. God is the just, gracious, and loving Creator of all things. Jesus is the fully human and divine Son of God. He is our King and Savior. The Holy Spirit moves within our world, living within believers to give humanity life, purpose, and mission with God.

  • HUMANITY

God created humanity in his image, and from the very beginning, he desired for us to live in community with him and with all of creation. His utmost desire is for us to love him and to love one another. Since humanity has chosen to walk away from this way of life, God has been pursuing us with his love and justice.

  • KINGDOM LIFE: SALVATION – MISSION – CHURCH

Through Jesus, God’s Kingdom has come to the world, and we believe that God will fix all things when Christ returns. Jesus took upon Himself the entirety of humanity’s sin, was crucified, raised from the dead, and now reigns with the Father. Because of this, we are offered free salvation from our sin, eternity with Him, and a life of participation in God’s mission. Believers are called to share this story of love and, on behalf of Christ, to care for others. The Church is God’s worldwide community of believers, gathering and serving through local congregations.

  • PARTICULAR TO OUR LOCAL FAMILY: BIBLE – LORD'S SUPPER – BAPTISM

God continues to reveal his great love, His desire for life with humanity, and His intentions for the world through the Bible (“His Inspired Word”) and through different practices. The Old and New Testaments provide us an insight into God’s character, into the lives of past generations, and instructions for living the most loving and peaceful lives. Each Sunday, we gather to take Christ’s Supper as a group of believers, and we trust that God takes care of us and inspires us to take care of one another through this engagement. In order to fully participate in God’s love, we join Jesus in baptism. This act continues our desire to love God and to wholly give up ourselves to His purposes.
