Children & Family

At Raintree Christian Church we believe God has a special calling for each child's life and we are excited to partner with parents to teach your child the truths of God's Word in a safe, friendly, and fun environment.  Our children’s programs are more than just childcare — we  desire to come alongside and equip the

entire family to love God and love others!

Children’s & Family Coordinator

Hi! My name is Michelle Shelburne and I am the Children's and Family Ministry Coordinator. I have eleven years of experience being an elementary educator with a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I am married to Ryan and we have one daughter named Lindsey. I enjoy drinking coffee, eating popcorn, Harry Potter, soccer, reading, and most importantly, being a wife and mom. I love to help kids and families in learning more about God's love. If I can assist you in any way, please contact me at mshelburne@raintreechristian.org.

During Worship

During our Worship time, children’s programming is provided for children six weeks old to the 5th grade. For our youngest guests, we provide loving nursery care staffed by volunteers who have passed background checks.

Our family-friendly Worship services are designed to encourage parents and their Kindergarten-5th graders to experience worship and communion together before being dismissed to age-appropriate teaching during the sermon time.

We believe that parents are the “Spiritual Formation Experts” for their children and we want to foster that time for growth on Sunday mornings.

What we believe and teach

Everything we teach in the Treehouse is based on one of three basic,

but powerful, truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52:

  • I need to make the wise choice.
  • I can trust God no matter what.
  • I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Small Sprouts

6 weeks - 24 months

We start our Small Sprouts on the basics of

  • Creation
  • Noah's Ark
  • Birth of Jesus.

They learn to sing about these stories and

they learn to enjoy Bible class.

All volunteers go through a standard background check. and we work hard to keep our environment

safe and clean.

The grove

2 year olds - school age

At this age children are little sponges and ready to be formed spiritually. We teach through Bible stories, games, songs, crafts, and play.

  • We start with "God made Me".
  • They progress to "God wants me to be a good friend".
  • At Thanksgiving we teach "God wants me to be  thankful".
  • They are then ready for "God is with me" at Christmas.
  • They are comforted by "God takes care of me".
  • They love the lessons on "I am special to God".
  • We finish them up with "I am created to do good things".

Kindergarten - 5th grade

and good leaders always care.
